What is a Database?

Database: a collection of information about journal articles, organised so it can be easily accessed.

Journals: (also called: serials, periodicals, magazines) are published weekly or monthly or quarterly and contain information and research on a variety of subjects.

Databases include:

  • Journal article citation/reference information - article title, author, journal title, volume and issue number, date.
  • Abstract - a summary telling you what the article is about.
  • Fulltext - the whole article online.
