Setting up Unitec Email

To check your email on your iPad at Unitec, you need to contact IMS and request that your email account be added to the mobilesync email service.

Once your email account has been mobilesynced to your iPad...

  1. Select the Settings icon to set up your mail account;
  2. Under Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select "Add Account...";
  3. Select Microsoft Exchange;
  4. Enter your email, username and password and select "Next";
  5. Enter the server as "mobilesync.unitec.ac.nz"; then
  6. Choose your preferences, then select "Done" to save your new settings.

iPad Requirements

To use an iPad at Unitec you need:

  • An Apple ID for some features, including iCloud, App Store, Itunes Store and online purchases.
  • An internet connection (see Wireless Access box).

Wireless Access

To use your iPad while at Unitec you need to set up your Wireless connection:


1. Verify Wi-Fi is enabled and that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

2. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is off, turn it on by tapping the on/off icon.

3. Available Wi-Fi networks appears under "Choose a Network..."

4. Locate and tap "UNITEC-HOTSPOT".

5. It should prompt you to log in with your Unitec username and password.
